The Wooden O Drama Course
Kinsale College established a reputation for providing exciting and innovative theatre attracting students nationally and internationally.
Taught by Belinda and Ian Wild, the Wooden O Theatre course allowed students to develop creative expression within a group environment that was supportive and inspiring. Kinsale College has a unique, purpose-built amphitheatre which provided students with a perfect space for rehearsal and public performance. S
Core to the teaching practise iwas belief in an ensemble approach to creating and delivering theatre.
Course Content
The Drama and Theatre Arts Course provides a comprehensive actors’ training in the following areas:
• Improvisation
• Characterisation
• Mime and physical theatre
• Movement and voice skills
• Script study
• Audition technique
• Masks
• Devising
• Stage craft
• Performance experience
Past Shows
Course productions have included:
The Shaugraun, The Importance of Being Earnest, As You Like It, Gaze Not into the Abyss. The Milk of Human Kindness, The Merry Wives of Windsor, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Government Inspector, A Flea in Her Ear, Cyrano de Bergerac, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Pirates in Short Pants, Romeo and Juliet, Homage to an American in Paris, She Stoops to Conquer, The Hypochondriac, The Rover, Reds Under the Beds, Collage Days, Spaghetti Western.
Students have also created and publicly performed many devised shows.
